St Edmund Hall, one of Oxford’s oldest academic institutions, has undergone a lighting upgrade at its Norham Gardens site to enhance teaching and communal environments. Orlight were appointed to deliver a complete package of modern LED solutions, balancing performance, safety and architectural integration.
The project made extensive use of the EZ2-145 downlight range, with both standard and emergency versions installed in large volumes. Their discreet design and IP54 rating provided reliable, high-quality illumination suitable for a range of academic and residential settings.
In parallel, robust ORLWP2 weatherpack fittings were introduced in areas requiring higher ingress protection, ensuring consistent performance in demanding conditions. For circulation and teaching spaces, Duo Orline linear fittings delivered continuous lines of light, enhancing the sense of openness and visual clarity.
Emergency provision was completed with a coordinated network of EXIT-LUME luminaires, offering clear signage and compliance across the estate. Together, these systems demonstrate Orlight’s ability to deliver both functional and elegant lighting solutions tailored to heritage academic environments.
