At Orlight, we believe that sustainable practices are essential for the long-term success of our industry. We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment, our employees, and the global architectural community.
Our Strategic Approach
We align our operations with global sustainability standards to ensure every luminaire we produce contributes to a greener planet.
Rigorous EPD certification and ISO 14001 compliance form the foundation of our environmental accountability.
Designing for longevity, recyclability, and repurposing to minimise waste throughout the product lifecycle.
Optimising logistics, transitioning to EV fleets, and reducing emissions across our global supply chain.
Utilising recycled content and exploring bioplastics to redefine the materials used in architectural lighting.
Transparency & Compliance
Sustainability runs through everything we make. We are expanding our EPD-certified product range, rigorously measuring and publicly disclosing the environmental impact of our lighting solutions at every stage, from raw materials to end-of-life disposal.

Our EPDs are verified, registered documents that confirm the environmental impact of our products across their full life cycle.
Independently audited life-cycle assessments following ISO 14025 and EN 15804, giving specifiers data they can trust.
Supporting architects and consultants in achieving BREEAM, LEED and WELL credits with declared, comparable impact data.
Sustainability Commitment
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and adopting appropriate environmental measures, Orlight have undertaken a suite of projects and changes to its operations in an attempt to positively create change and protect our environment.
Download DeclarationAt Orlight, the focus is on implementing sustainable measures that align with their business model, improve their products and services, and enhance customer experience. We believe that small steps can lead to lasting change, which is why they developed SUSTAINA-SITE™.
What is SUSTAINA-SITE and how can Orlight help?
SUSTAINA-SITE is a recycling collection service aimed at removing all Orlight cardboard and plastics from our clients’ sites. We want to reduce our contribution to packaging waste delivered to building sites, therefore, we’ve set up this service to remove all Orlight packaging waste from applicable sites. We are doing this to ensure that our packaging is recycled in an environmentally conscious manner.
Available to all commercial framework partners

We deliver one 660L ‘ORLIGHT’ Green Bin to site under a bi-weekly collection service
All full ‘ORLIGHT’ bins collected will be simultaneously replaced with an empty 660L Bin
All collections will be verified by a collection note confirming a 660L bin of mixed cardboard and plastic
The materials will then be baled with our on-site baling machine and shipped to a recycling hub.

The Full Journey
We view the lifecycle of a luminaire as a continuous loop, where every stage is an opportunity to reduce environmental impact and enhance value.
Modular architecture for easy upgrades.
Energy-efficient production lines.
Reduced packaging and on-site waste.
Extended product lifespan services.
Component replacement vs full product replacement.
Second-life repurposing programmes.
Material recovery and zero landfill waste.
Closed Loop Systems
Our circular economy principles aim to reduce waste and conserve resources by creating clever closed-loop systems where materials remain in use for as long as possible. We support these principles through a range of core initiatives.
We design our products for disassembly and recyclability, using high-quality materials that can be reused, repaired or recycled at the end of their service life.
We incorporate recycled materials into the manufacture of new products, helping to conserve natural resources, reduce waste and support a more circular economy.
We offer customers the option to return end-of-life products for refurbishment, reuse or responsible recycling, helping to keep valuable materials in circulation.
We work closely with suppliers to ensure materials and components are responsibly sourced and designed to support reuse and recycling throughout the product lifecycle.
When a product reaches the end of its service life or develops a fault, we can arrange for its return and assessment.
Where possible, products are regenerated by replacing only the faulty components, extending their lifespan while retaining the original optics, bezels and housing.
If a product is beyond repair, we ensure its materials are responsibly recovered and recycled. We encourage customers to return end-of-life luminaires so they can be repurposed, regenerated or recycled, supporting a more circular approach to manufacturing.

These case studies demonstrate how Orlight is committed to providing excellent service and meeting our clients’ needs through product repurposing. We take pride in our ability to adapt our products to meet our clients’ changing needs and look forward to continuing to provide innovative solutions in the future.

Orlight repurchased and reused 327 fixtures after a building ownership change, preventing unnecessary waste and supporting circular sustainability.

A bespoke redesign enabled the reuse of an existing luminaire, avoiding replacement and meeting the project’s updated installation requirements.

15 external roof lights were refurbished to restore performance and appearance, extending product life and avoiding unnecessary replacement.

Since achieving FORS Gold accreditation in 2015, we have continuously improved our fleet operations, driver training and environmental performance to maintain the highest standards of compliance and best practice.
All drivers receive comprehensive training to ensure safe operation in urban environments, adherence to anti-idling policies and responsible driving practices that help reduce emissions, fuel consumption and noise pollution. We also promote efficient driving techniques, including vehicle inspection procedures, gearbox management and fuel-efficient driving habits.
