HELPING CONSTRUCTION SITES GET ONE STEP CLOSER TO ACHIEVING NET ZERO

With net zero ambitions announced almost daily, the construction sector faces pressure to achieve carbon neutrality. Companies are recognizing the urgency of climate change and responding with public climate targets and strategies. Many are adopting credible net-zero targets and sustainable strategies, but the rapid increase in pledges and varied approaches make it hard to distinguish genuine leadership from greenwashing.

At Orlight, the focus is on implementing sustainable measures that align with their business model, improve their products and services, and enhance customer experience. We believe that small steps can lead to lasting change, which is why they developed SUSTAINA-SITE™.

It is often the small steps not
giant leaps that bring about
the most lasting change.
What is SUSTAINA-SITE
and how can Orlight help?

SUSTAINA-SITE is a recycling collection service aimed at removing all Orlight cardboard and plastics from our clients’ sites . We want to reduce our contribution to packaging waste delivered to building sites, therefore, we’ve set up this service to remove all orlight packaging waste from applicable sites. We are doing this to ensure that our packaging is recycled in an environmentally conscious manner.

How Does
SUSTAINA-SITE Work?
1

We deliver one 660L ‘ORLIGHT’ Green Bin to site under a bi-weekly collection service

2

All full ‘ORLIGHT’ bins collected will be simultaneously replaced with an empty 660L Bin

3

All collections will be verified with a collection note confirming that a 660L bin comprised of an unspecified amount of cardboard and plastic will be provided

4

The materials will then be bailed accordingly using our on-site bailing machine. All baled plastic and cardboard will then be shipped to a recycling hub.

Product Lifecyle

If a product has failed or has become EOL, we can arrange collection of the product.
Once received, we will review to see if it can be regenerated or recycled.

REGENERATE
If we can Regenerate the product, we will only need to replace the faulty part of the fitting, which can then be restored to life, utilizing all of our original optics and bezels.
RECYCLE
If the unit is beyond the point of repair, we will ensure the raw material is always fully recycled. We encourage all fixtures to be returned to us so we can Repurpose or recycle.
On Shoring

Considering that roughly 17% of the global greenhouse gas emissions stem from transportation of goods localised sourcing needs to be one of the most critical steps we take to achieve sustainable manufacturing. Our goal is to provide high-quality products while balancing the economic, environmental, and social impacts of our operations.

Some examples of products constructed/assembled onshore;

ORLINE
LEO Range
ORL1551 Range
Weatherpacks
Linear LED
X14 Range

and
many more
Therefore, we may also consider nearshoring as an alternative option, which can provide many of the benefits of onshoring while still maintaining cost competitiveness with a focus on improving our supply chain, reducing our environmental impact and supporting local economies.
